Our approach

Through years of experience we’ve learned how to get the best results for clients of all shapes and sizes.

There is no one size fits all approach to non-profit technology – each client and each project is different – but here are four guiding principles that inform our work.

Our principles

Focus on impact

We prioritise tasks so we can have the biggest impact for the least effort. We think hard to keep things as simple as possible. We avoid custom solutions and build on past success so your time and resources can go further.

Self sufficiency

We want you to be self-sufficient in the tech you use day-to-day. We focus on training and empowering you to do as much as you can yourself while at the same time, being there for advice and support when you need it.

Long term support

We start by developing a deep understanding of your organisation and mission, which we then use as the basis of all our work with you. The longer we’ve worked together, the more we understand you, and the better we can help.

Equal partnerships

We combine your knowledge of your work and your mission with our skills and experience of non-profit tech to create the best solutions for your users. We’re great listeners, but we’ll also challenge you when appropriate.

Here’s what some of our clients have to say…

3SD are an excellent partner. Their understanding of the core technologies and CiviCRM is second to none, but they also speak human! They understand open source and share our approach to ‘lifting all boats’. What really stood out for us was their careful approach to planning and managing the project, bringing in their work on time and on budget while being flexible in all the right places.” – Jon Hallé, CEO at Sharenergy

Our use of CiviCRM is both unique and complex, but Michael and Kurund took the time to truly understand our requirements. They developed creative solutions to the issues we were facing, while thoughtfully challenging some of our own pre-existing ideas about our data and workflows, helping us to identify efficiencies and simplify our data model in the process.” – Scott Mason, Researcher at Omega Research Foundation

Thank you for all your work on the website. It’s so exciting to see it live, and now we’ve got some super content for fundraising. I feel like I can take ownership of the whole fundraising programme going forward – good things to come!” – Izy Clery, Head of Fundraising and Engagement at Population Matters
