Alpha initially contacted us for some advice on the best way to model their (quite complex) requirements in CiviCRM. They were already using Drupal for their website and were evaluating whether CiviCRM would be a suitable next step. We provided them with an expert opinion. We meet up with them to better understand their needs. At that time, there were a few options but no perfect way to do what they wanted to do in Civi. Luckily they had a reasonable budget to work with so we suggested that they look at funding the development of contact subtypes. We also invited them to come to our CiviCRM training where they met the core development team got a better understanding of the development process. A few months later and CiviCRM contact subtypes (an incredibly useful feature) were born. A couple of years down the line, Alpha have rolled out CiviCRM at over 20 national offices to publicise their courses, and keep track of participants.
